The Dangers of Texting While Driving

We are all aware how dangerous it is to talk on your phone while driving, there has been laws passed to prevent this from happening so often. However, recently, distracted drivers texting or reading texts have been one of the leading causes of automobile accidents. The dangers of texting while driving has been increasingly being recognized as national issue and involves cumbersome texting fines if you were ever caught in some states in the US. Reliable research have found that it is six times more likely for someone to get in an accident when texting or reading messages while driving than driving while intoxicated. The five seconds your attention is away from the road to your phone while driving at 55mph is equivalent to driving across a football field blind. Now thirty nine states and D.C. have prohibited all drivers from texting.

By simple self-restraint to not use your phone during the duration of your drive will be beneficial for your safety and the safety of others on the road.  Automatic responses to texts and calls apps set up for your phone could significantly prevent driver distractions on the road. Other safe driving tips to follow is to have a drive cam which can monitor a driver’s activity and give feedback in real-time video. Just by merely using a hands free device or having both hands on the wheel is also sufficient in preventing the dangers of texting while driving.
